CLAHRC Greater Manchester Research Fellow awarded NIHR Fellowship

Dr Chris Gibbons has been awarded a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) post-doctoral research fellowship to conduct the Adaptive Tests for Long-Term Conditions (ATLanTiC) study, in which a ‘smart’ computerised assessment system to evaluate patient quality of life in primary care will be developed and evaluated. An NIHR Fellowship is a highly-competitive personal award for researchers who show great potential to be research leaders of the future.

Chris will be based between the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology, the Centre for Primary Care and the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the University of Manchester for the duration of the Fellowship and will also spend time as a visiting academic at the Psychometrics Centre, University of Cambridge and the School of Medicine, University of Gothenburg.

Chris has been involved with CLAHRC GM’s COINCIDE trial as a Research Associate, overseeing trial management and data analysis. In May 2014 he was appointed as a Research Fellow on the patient-centred care theme where he has been developing a plan to evaluate the COINCIDE model of collaborative care in a naturalistic setting and developing new research streams around mental and physical health comorbidities. Whilst we are sorry that he won't be continuing this work in CLAHRC GM we are looking forward to collaborating with him in this new work and are delighted at his success.
