Manchester Integration (MInt): Understanding and supporting the integration of health and social care at a neighbourhood level in the City of Manchester

Demand for health and social care services has been steadily increasing in quantity and complexity over recent years. In response, recent emphasis has been on the integration of these services. Across the city of Manchester, a group of providers have agreed to work together as the Manchester Local Care Organisation (MLCO) to deliver community-based care, integrated at neighbourhood level and commissioned through Manchester Health Care Commissioning (MHCC).

NIHR CLAHRC GM is working with MHCC to evaluate this integration process using in-depth interviews with both frontline health and social care workers and senior members of provider and commissioning organizations. We will also review the current relevant literature and other associated documents. Findings, expected early 2019, will be used to inform the ongoing restructuring of these health and care services.

More information is available here in the Organizing Healthcare Programme section of the CLAHRC GM website.
