The Q Initiative: A new initiative to improve healthcare quality
The Q Initiative is a new programme, led by The Health Foundation, to recruit 150-250 fellows to lead a programme of improvement in health quality. Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) are taking the lead in identifying up to 10 representatives from their areas to join the initial cohort of fellows - to be received by 1 May 2015. Originally begun as an initiative to recruit 5,000 safety fellows, the Q Initiative will be focussed on embedding continual learning and improvement in the NHS. The ambition of the Q Initiative is to radically expand and accelerate improvement to the quality of care. While the initial focus will be on patient safety, it will expand to include all aspects of quality improvement in the future. This will build the foundations of an improvement network in Greater Manchester, supporting Greater Manchester AHSN (GM AHSN) priority areas. More information on the criteria, as well as the application form, is available on the GM AHSN website. All applications need to be submitted to the GM AHSN by 1 May 2015. For more information please contact Jane Macdonald, Associate Director of Nursing and Improvement/Patient Safety Lead at the GM AHSN.
