Knowledge Mobilisation Programme

ARC Oxford and Thames Valley

The NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Oxford and Thames Valley Knowledge Mobilisation programme focuses on building capacity and capability and mobilising evidence across these system priority areas.

  • Start Well- helping all children and young people achieve the best start in life
  • Live Well- supporting people and communities to live healthy and happier lives
  • Age Well- staying healthy and independent for longer

Approaches

The main approaches to knowledge mobilisation we take are:

  1. Partnership optimisation:
Working closely with both our local integrated care board (Thames Valley Integrated Care Board), Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley and other local, regional and national partners to map knowledge-to-action gaps and identify opportunities for current and future research evidence to inform policy and practice.
  2. Network development:
    • Use existing networks to support the use of research outputs and innovations addressing health inequalities and social determinants of health, linked with NHS Core20PLUS5.
    • Participate in partner events to facilitate knowledge exchange and broker new relationships between creators and users of knowledge
    • Work with current and new partners to identify implementation opportunities
  3. Knowledge translation:
    • Support researchers to develop accessible summaries of their work
    • Help adapt research findings to local contexts
    • Identify and share case studies of successful knowledge mobilisation
  4. Strategic alignment:
Work with system partners to understand barriers and facilitators to knowledge use and support evidence-informed decision-making.
