The NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) approach is based on a collaborative partnership with their regional Integrated Care System (ICS) and Integrated Care Board (ICB) colleagues.
NIHR ARC East Midlands has not received funding from the national NIHR KM programme to supplement their existing KM work, but they are continuing to work with their regional partners to understand:
- knowledge gaps that exist (the 'what') and for which stakeholder communities (the 'who')
- in what format and when research evidence can be mobilised more efficiently for different audiences and purposes (the 'how').
In responding to these objectives, the team is:
- scoping pathways and mechanisms for KM delivery
- identifying and sharing evidence requirements (i.e. what, how, when) across the ARC infrastructure
- horizon scanning the evidence needs of their five regional ICBs and other key ARC delivery partners
- matching evidence gap / needs with the knowledge available from the ARCs that can be mobilised for utilisation
- working closely with their local KM community (including Health Innovation East Midlands Innovation Leads, Knowledge for Public Health (KNOW-PH) who are the NIHR-funded public health knowledge mobilisation team, and the NIHR-funded Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams (PHIRST), to form a regional learning cohort, as well as participate in cross-ARC learning communities
- building system capacity, by training and mentoring others (ARC and non-ARC) to become KM literate.
