Regional ARC Approaches

Summaries from each ARC on their approcahes to Knowledge Mobilisation

In October 2024, the NIHR awarded £7.8 million to the Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) to build knowledge mobilisation capacity across the health and social care system.

The initiative focuses on:

  • Putting proven research and models of care into practice in priority areas.
  • Engaging stakeholders across health, care, and community settings.
  • Building a national community to share learning.
  • Evaluating what works to inform future practice.

Each ARC has appointed Knowledge Mobilisation Fellows who can connect research with real-world services. They help to identify local needs, apply evidence-based approaches, and support practitioners to improve care.

Working with partners such as Health Innovation Networks, Integrated Care Systems, local authorities, and VCSE organisations, the ARCs aim to create a continuous loop where evidence meets real-time decision-making.

Each regional ARC has developed priorities and approaches to knowledge mobilisation capacity building tailored to their region and led by their Knowledge

Mobilisation Lead. You can find out more by clicking on the relevant ARC webpage below:
