PhD students work selected for publication in the American Diabetes Association Journal
Congratulations to Neesha Patel who has had her PhD abstract selected for publication in the July edition of the American Diabetes Association journal, Diabetes.
Neesha’s PhD was a three year research project, embedded within the CLAHRC’s People with Long Term Conditions (Patients) Research Theme programme. Her work focused on exploring the ‘role of illness beliefs and social networks in South Asian people with diabetes, using mixed methods approach’. She started her PhD in October 2009, submitting her Thesis in September 2012.
In June 2012, Neesha was awarded funding through the CLAHRC Research and Capability Funding (RCF) stream with Professor Carolyn Chew-Graham. The aim of this RCF is to extend and conduct further analysis of her existing PhD data, in particular developing and improving support for Muslim patients in primary care who choose to fast during Ramadan, together with engagement with key stakeholders in order to submit an application for RfPB funding.
