Background
Knowledge Mobilisation is a two-way process to enable the “right people” to use the “right information” at the “right time” with the aim of making lasting improvements in health and care. For example, if there’s good research showing that older adults who have delirium are more likely to fall, we want to make sure the people working with older adults know about this.
We then talk with services and teams about how they can use this information and what actions they might take, their feedback can also shape the next steps for research in this area too.
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) want to work better together to do this across England. The NIHR ARC Greater Manchester (ARC-GM) has received funding to co-ordinate knowledge mobilisation for all 15 ARCs (the ARC Knowledge Mobilisation Programme).
Working with all 15 ARCs and other stakeholders, the ARC Knowledge Mobilisation Programme will focus on mobilising research-based knowledge in the areas of highest priority for health and social care. The aims of this programme are to:
- Increase visability and accessibility of quaity research in top priority areas for health and care
- Build capacity and capability to mobilise knowledge
- Increase the use of research in health and care policy and practice
