My Voice Matters in Research: Co-producing the next generation of inclusive research practices and researchers

Working together with young people, families and professionals, we are co-producing resources, guidance and creative materials that put young people's voices at the heart of mental health care.

Words saying hello and welcome

We’re glad you are here. On this page, you can see, download, and use some of our work that is all about improving mental health research and support with young people.

We have worked with young people, families and colleagues to create practical resources based on real experiences to involve more young people's voices in the mental health research and practices that shape the future of mental health and wellbeing services.

By working together with young people, families, and professionals, we are co-producing resources, guidance, and creative materials that put young people’s voices at the heart of mental health care.

Together, we want to shape more inclusive mental health research studies and services, fairer policies, and communicate what mental health difficulties can look like for all young people, to ensure everyone can access useful support when they need it.

Fairer Futures project

The resources in this section were created with funding from a Healthier Futures impact award from the University of Manchester in 2025.  Through these, we aim to create fairer, kinder, and more effective mental health research and services for all young people.

My Voice Matters in Research project

The resources developed through My Voice Matters in Research were developed over a two-year consultation period with stakeholders and four co-production workshops with children and young people identifying as the Global Majority, autistic, LGBTQIA+ and/or with experience of the youth justice system.
